Education is an important part of every Toastmaster’s journey. Participating in Toastmasters’ education programs allows you to gain the valuable practice needed to develop your public speaking, communication, and leadership skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Pathways
PATHWAYS is Toastmasters’ new education program! It serves as the foundation of your Toastmasters experience, and is designed to help you build the competencies you need to communicate and lead.
There are 11 Pathways that you can choose from, based on your personal and professional goals. No matter which Path you choose, you will complete at least 14 educational projects and present a minimum of 15 prepared speeches
Our Four Guiding Principles
Since Toastmasters was founded in 1924, our education programs have been driven by four guiding principles:
Experiential Learning
By giving speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, you practice and improve.
Peer Feedback
Grow and improve your public speaking and communication skills through honest and supportive peer evaluation.
Mentoring
Experienced mentors encourage, guide and support you in your goals and help you to achieve more than you thought possible.
Self-Paced Program
Develop skills at your own pace and comfort level
Meetings
Castlebar Toastmasters meets every fortnight in the Mayo Education Centre (Eircode: F23 HX48) , Castlebar, Co. Mayo from September to May. The meetings run from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, though we do ask that people arrive 15 minutes early.
Visitors are welcome to attend two meetings as guests after which they may register as full members.
Castlebar Toastmasters will be resuming on Tuesday evening, September 10th, 2024 and then every fortnight after that.

Welcome
Welcome to Castlebar Toastmasters. My name is Caitríona Doyle and I am very honoured to have been elected President of the Club for this coming Toastmaster Year 2024 – 2025.
I joined Castlebar Toastmasters in 2017 a year after it was formed and look forward to each meeting. There is nowhere else where such an eclectic mix of topics are spoken about. Castlebar Toastmasters is the place to be if you wish to hear speakers that will move you – sometimes to laughter, sometimes to tears. It is a place where you can improve your speaking and hone in on what is important to get your point across. My journey through Castlebar Toastmasters has been both enjoyable and beneficial.
In a meeting you have the opportunity to give prepared speeches as well as brief, impromptu presentations known as Table Topics. There is no rush and no pressure: the Toastmasters Programme always allows you to progress at your own pace. Members will provide great encouragement and useful feedback So just go for it. Please take the opportunity to attend one of our meetings as a guest and make up your own mind.
